Visual AI Politics//Politics of Visual AI Graphic Recording

As part of the 2025 Digital Politics Summer School, we held a roundtable discussion exploring Visual AI Politics//Politics of Visual AI. In case you missed it, you can watch the recorded session over on DISC’s YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdhZ08psBt4
During the roundtable we were fortunate to have Sonaksha – an illustrator, designer and graphic recorder – watching and preparing a graphic recording of the discussion. Sonaksha describes their graphic recordings as: ‘A real-time synthesis of discussions and presentations into a visual map. Combining words and visuals, graphic records help break down complex ideas and capture key highlights.’
We are now able to share Sonaksha’s beautiful graphic recording of the roundtable discussion; having pulled key concepts and quotes from each of our speakers, Sonaksha has stunningly presented the roundtable discussion in visual form for us to present and share.
Particularly striking within Sonaksha’s work are the motifs of Palestinian solidarity throughout. Drawing upon the messages of resistance and protest from our roundtable speakers, Sonaksha has presented their concepts and ideas into a visual motif that not only makes complex theoretical understandings more accessible but also foregrounds the global political context in which our discussion took place.
Thank you again to Sonaksha for all their hard work on this project and for creating such a beautiful visual of an amazing roundtable discussion. You can see more of Sonaksha’s work and portfolio on their website: https://www.sonaksha.com/
