In 2024, DISC launched a funded Visiting Fellows scheme, to support short visits of up to one week, by established international researchers. These visits are by invitation only. ​In addition, we welcome senior and junior visiting researchers and advanced doctoral students who would like to spend some time at Manchester Metropolitan University and collaborate with our members. These visits operate on a self-funded basis and can vary in length. Visitors are expected to attend DISC events, work on their own research, and collaborate with one or several DISC members.

In 2026, we launched our Virtual Fellowship, designed to be accessible and internationally welcoming, by allowing the Fellows to spend time with us online, synchronously and asynchronously, by presenting their work and attending our online events, connecting to other researchers and contributing to a focused project. Our first cohort of Virtual Fellows in critical AI Policy will join DISC in April 2026.
